Board of Directors

Debra Hansen

Debra was with Weyerhaeuser Company for 27 years before recently retiring. She provided leadership and strategic direction as Vice President to Weyerhaeuser Business Services. Services included security, aviation, facilities, travel and administrative.
 
Debra is actively involved in the Federal Way community. She was past chair and currently serves on the Board of Federal Way’s signature program, Advancing Leadership. She served on the Board for the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce as well as the Rhododendron Species Foundation Board. She volunteers on the Advisory Committee for Community in Schools and is a volunteer at the Multi-Service Center.
 
Debra joined the Woodstone Board of Directors in 2009.

Andy Hwang

Andy is currently the acting Chief of Police for the City of Federal Way. He has more than 23 years of police experience with the Federal Way and Olympia Police Departments. Throughout his career Andy has received numerous awards and recognition for management and outstanding leadership skills.
 
He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Martin’s University, and a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. He has also completed the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University, and Washington State Executive Level Career Certification. In addition, he was an Adjunct Professor at Saint Martin’s University in Criminal Justice and Leadership Courses.
 
Andy is active in a variety of Community Service Associations. He is a speaker for the Federal Way School District’s Family Partnership Office Advisory and Speaker Bureau; is on the Advancing Leadership Board Of Directors; a member of Federal Way Noon Kiwanis International Club; a member of the International Association of Chief of Police; and is a representative for United Way of King County South Community Council.
 
Andy joined Woodstone’s Board of Directors in 2009.

Norm Lund

Norm brings to Woodstone Credit Union a deep understanding of treasury operations. Retired from Weyerhaeuser Company, he spent the last 22 years of his career as Assistant Treasurer and Managing Director of Treasury Operations. He is a Certified Cash Manager, and a member of the Association of Financial Professionals. He graduated from the University of Washington with a Business/Accounting degree. Norm served a Tour of Duty in the U.S. Navy.
 
Norm joined the Board of Directors for Woodstone Credit Union in 1998 and currently serves on both the Board and the Supervisory Committee.

Thomas Murphy

Tom Murphy is the superintendent of Federal Way Public Schools. He began his career teaching English in the classroom, moving on to work as school principal for several years. From 1988 to 1999, he was assistant superintendent of FWPS and then was selected as superintendent. Supt. Murphy earned a Master's of Science degree in secondary administration from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis on language arts from Lewis University in Lockport, Illinois.
 
Tom joined Woodstone’s Board of Directors in 2009.
 
He and his wife, Rosemary, have been married 40 years and have four adult children and four grandchildren.

William Musser

Bill retired from the Weyerhaeuser Company after more than forty years in the accounting and financial fields. He held a variety of management positions including Director of Accounts Payable and Export Documentation and Process Implementation Manager for the Enterprise Transaction Center.
 
He earned a B.A. in Business Administration and Economics from Central Washington State University and also attended Pacific Lutheran University Graduate School. His volunteer experience encompasses both local and national service. His work includes serving as Chairman of the Board for Bellarmine Preparatory School; past President of the Pierce County Credit Union Chairman’s Club; Board member and past President of the Mt. Rainier chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants; National Director and National Vice President with the Institute of Management Accountants.
 
Bill joined the Board of Directors of Woodstone Credit Union in 1972 and served as the Chairman of the Board for more than 30 years. He currently serves on the Executive Committee.

Brian Pederson

Brian is retired from Weyerhaeuser Company. During his 38 years with the company, he held various managerial positions in accounting, finance and human resources.
 
For the past 26 years, he has been a volunteer income tax preparer for the IRS TaxAide program, and he previously served on Boards for the Institute of Management Accountants and the Puyallup Valley YMCA. He earned a BA from the University of Washington in Accounting and Business Administration.
 
Brian joined Woodstone’s Board of Directors in 1974 and held a variety of positions including Vice-Chairman, Supervisory Committee, Credit Committee and Nominating Committee. Brian currently serves on the Executive Committee and Credit Committee.

Tom Pierson

Tom, as the CEO of the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce has been a dynamic leader. Since 2003, a few of his accomplishments for the Chamber include working in partnership with the Federal Way Police Department to create Safe City Federal Way; created South Sound Chambers of Commerce Legislative Coalition; initiated the buy local program – Federal Way First; and achieved the US Chamber of Commerce four-star accreditation based on financial controls, management and overall performance.
 
Tom has a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Washington State University. He has numerous professional affiliations and is active on several non–profit Boards in the Federal Way community including Board of Trustees, Franciscan Foundation; Past Chair of Board, Communities in Schools of Federal Way, Past Chair of Board, Safe City Federal Way; Treasurer of Board, Multi-Service Center; Board member, Advancing Leadership; Board member, Federal Ways Boys and Girls Club.
 
In addition, he has received several honors and awards including 40 under 40 Business Leaders; Technology Access Foundation Kiongozi Award; Accredited Chamber Executive.
 
Tom joined Woodstone’s Board of Directors in 2009.

Leslie Sorensen

After graduating from the University of Washington, Leslie continued her career with the Weyerhaeuser Company where she retired after 37 years from managing the Consolidations and Corporate Financial Systems. Her previous experience included numerous positions in finance and management. In addition, Leslie was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
 
Leslie was also active in the Volunteer Leadership of the Institute of Management Accountants where she served as a National Vice President and as Chair of the Board of Regents which oversees the CMA and CFM certifications. She is now an Emeritus member of the organization. Leslie serves on Woodstone’s Board of Directors and as a member the Supervisory Committee. She has volunteered her expertise to Woodstone since 1993.
 
In her spare time, Leslie has dedicated years of service to the Washington State Special Olympics and since her retirement indulges her love of travel.

Brian Wilson

Chief Wilson brings a deep sense of community understanding to Woodstone’s Board of Directors. He is currently the Interim City Manager/Chief of Police for the City of Federal Way and has 29 years of police experience with the Federal Way and Renton Police Departments.
 
He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice/Sociology from Washington State University, a Master of Public Administration Degree from Seattle University, is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and is a graduate of the FBI Law Enforcement Development Seminar. He is a published author in the field of police work.
 
In addition, he serves as the Board Chair for Valley Cities Counseling and Consultations; a mental health and family services organization with over 200 employees serving the needs of thousands in the South King County area.
 
Chief Wilson joined Woodstone Credit Union’s Board of Directors in 2001 and currently serves as Chairman of the Board and is on the Executive Committee.
